Hi! My name is Robin Patterson.
I wear many hats. I paint, draw, write, take photos, and work in graphic design, just to name a few. But that's the thing about creative people—their artistic interests often flow into other imaginative areas.
I’ve been a teacher of art, design, writing, and all-around creativity for over 20 years. I’m passionate about sharing all that I've learned through the years and love seeing the wonder in a new artist's eyes as their skills grow and evolve. Helping others realize their creative potential is rewarding and drives me to continue teaching.
My husband and I have settled here in Ontario’s SDG area after moving around Canada. We've lived in Quebec, Saskatchewan, and BC, but I’m happy to call Ontario home.

Hi! My name is Roxanne Rainville.
My favourite and almost only past times growing up were drawing and watching cartoons. They are fascinations that led me to where I am today, a freelance children's book illustrator.
I have almost a decade of digital illustration experience, but I also love working in traditional mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpting, and fibre arts. I studied animation, fine arts, illustrations, and design in Montreal and Ottawa. After graduating, I worked in video games and have freelanced for over five years, offering bilingual services in French and English.
I’m always expanding my artistic skillset and finding new ways to express myself creatively. Teaching art with Robin at The Crayon Box Collective is a fantastic opportunity to share my passion and skills with students of all ages.

Discover your inner artist!
At Crayon Box Studio, we strive to make art accessible, hands-on, and simple. Our classes focus on creativity and imagination, as well as traditional techniques. Each lesson allows students to explore different mediums while developing their artistic processes. We introduce art history and encourage discussion, curiosity, and opinion. Above all, we are passionate about fostering a love of art in our students and instilling the belief in their creative abilities.
Nurturing creative expression has numerous benefits. Being immersed in the tactile world of art boosts self-confidence, relieves stress, improves problem-solving skills, and helps us process the world around us. Making art can be life-changing, and it’s never too late to start!
We teach classes for all ages and student levels. View our class pages for more information and join an upcoming session!

Due to the most recent announcement of an Ontario provincewide shut down, the studio will suspend classes and private lessons for the month of April, starting early Saturday morning on April 3.
Hopefully the shut down will work, and we will be able to resume classes on May 1st, and pick up where we left off. Rest assured, any projects unfinished will still be here when we get back to it, and when we resume, the full 10 weeks that you signed up for will be realized.
